Sprout Salad – truly a powerhouse breakfast item! Sprouts are a rage across the globe among the health-conscious folks as they are highly nutritious, easy to digest and very fulfilling. They are a rich source of proteins and many other essential nutrients, and enable weight loss as well. It is recommended to include sprouts in our regular diet as they provide wholesome nourishment. And unlike many things that are so healthy but not so tasty, this one is a treat to the taste buds too. This recipe of Sprout Salad is using Moth, however you can follow the same process with any type of sprout seeds of your choice.
- Sprouted moth – Made of 1/2 cup of moth
- Onion – 1 medium sized
- Tomato(Red) – 1 medium sized
- Green chillies – 1-2
- Cucumber – 1/2 (optional)
- Carrot (small) – optional
- Few coriander leaves
- Lemon juice (optional)
- Salt to taste
Servings: 1-2 persons
Soak moth(half cup) in water for 5-6 hours during summer and 7-8 hours during winter.
Drain out water and tie up in muslin cloth or net cloth and hang for 18 to 20 hours till sprout comes out.
You can also use a sprout maker for the sprouting process, if you have one.
Once sprouts are ready, put them in a bowl.
Cut onion, tomato, green chillies, carrot, cucumber and coriander leaves into small pieces, and add to the sprouts.
Add salt and mix well.
Add lemon juice (optional) as per your taste and serve sprout salad.
