Our Guest Chef, Rashmi Srivastava, is one of the finalists of our “Desserts to De-stress” contest. She resides in Hyderabad and is a certified Zumba Instructor by profession. Apart from dancing and fitness, she is passionate about cooking. She likes to experiment and indulge in a variety of cuisines and believes in approaching the process of cooking in a simplistic manner without compromising on taste and health. She also focuses on presenting her dishes in an alluring manner which never fail to tingle the taste buds of her family and friends. Autumn Dessert Recipe is an easy to prepare dish which can be improvised based on personal taste and choices. This recipe was appreciated by the contest jury for its freshness and attractive presentation.
Ingredients:
- One large ripe apple (Peeled and thinly sliced)
- 1/2 cup water (Divided in two portions)
- Sugar – 2 tablespoons
- Raisins – 1 tablespoon (optional)
- Butter – 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch – 1 tablespoon
- Ground Cinnamon – 1/8 teaspoon
- Toasted Cinnamon Bread – 2 slicesMint leaves (for garnishing)
- Ice-cream or Whipped cream
Servings: 2 persons
Preparation & Cooking Time: 20 mins.
Method
In a saucepan, add the apple, 1/4 cup water, sugar, raisins (if desired), butter and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until fruit is tender.
Combine cornstarch and remaining water until smooth and then add to the fruit mixture. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until the contents in the saucepan have thickened.
Autumn Dessert Recipe is ready. Serve warm over cinnamon toast. Top with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
