Aamras

Aamras

One of the things that most of the Indians share in common is our love for Mangoes! Once the mango season kickstarts, one can find them in every household. My family is no exception – we all are crazy about mangoes. However, it’s strange but I never really enjoyed having ripe mangoes during childhood and always preferred raw ones. But, the moment I started having Aamras, I started appreciating the taste and flavour of ripe mangoes and now I am fond of mangoes in any form. Aamras is an Indian cooking recipe that goes best with pooris or parathas, but you can have it all by itself as well – it’s so satisfying and nutritious!

Ingredients:

  • Ripe  mango – 1 large sized (about 400 gms.)
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon (if required)
  • Milk – 2 cups

Servings: 2 persons

Preparation Time: 30 mins

Method

Boil milk and then let it cool. Keep aside.

Remove/peel the skin of the mango and then cut the mango into pieces. Remove stone/seed of the mango.

Add milk and the cut mango pieces in a blender/mixer. Add sugar if required depending on the sweetness of the mango.

Grind for one minute and strain through a sieve/muslin cloth into a bowl.

Refrigerate and serve chilled Aamras (you can add ice if you like).
